While there is much doubt about the direction of European cooperation, there is still broad political support for the Digital Single Market. The European Commission has worked hard to drive digitalisation in Europe forward to the benefit of both businesses and consumers. But economic growth is still rather slow in EU member states and there is an urgent need to strengthen European competitiveness. The Digital Single Market is an important step forward, but much more could be done to secure future success.
Think Tank EUROPA has for more than a year been working on a new report on how to digitise Europe towards 2030, Disrupting Europe – from laggard to digital frontrunner.
It includes proposals for a more ambitious digital strategy in Europe. It is crucial that EU becomes a global frontrunner in the digital transformation, and the Nordic countries already provide some inspiration on how to make digitisation a driving force for new productivity gains and more economic growth.
Think Tank EUROPA will present the main findings of the report at an event on the 30 November 2016 and would like to engage in a discussion about the findings and on how to best move the digital agenda forward.
